Uncle Boonmee takes Palme d'Or

The International Film Festival Rotterdam congratulates the winners of the 63rd Cannes Film Festival, in particular Palme d'Or winner Apichatpong Weerasethakul. His 'Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives' was supported by IFFR's Hubert Bals Fund for script development in 2008.

2007 Palme d'Or winning film '4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days' by Cristian Mungiu was also supported by the Hubert Bals Fund.

IFFR also congratulates Mahamat Saleh Haroun for winning the Prix du Jury for 'A Screaming Man', presented as project in CineMart 2007.

Further congratulations go to Juliette Binoche, awarded with the Best Actress Prize for 'Copie Conforme (Certified Copy') by Abbas Kiarostami. 'Copie Conforme' was presented as project at CineMart 2008.

IFFR further congratulates Fabienne Berthaud. Her 'Pieds nus sur les limaces (Lily Sometimes)' took the Art Cinema Award, one of the three feature film prizes of the Quinzaine des Realisateurs. Berthaud presented her film in project stage at CineMart 2007.
