IFFR and Spotify present the music that inspired the films

44th International Film Festival Rotterdam January 21 – February 1, 2015 PRESS RELEASE December 24, 2014 International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) and Spotify present the music that inspired the films IFFR and streaming music service Spotify have entered into a media partnership for the upcoming edition of the festival and will treat the audience to the musical sources of inspiration of (inter)national filmmakers. IFFR audiences and Spotify users will have access, both online and offline, to the music behind the films. For the past months, IFFR has asked filmmakers from all over the world for music that inspired them for their new film, pulled them out of a writer's block, or proved important to them for whatever reason. Enthusiastically, both established and young filmmakers like Martín Rejtman (DOS DISPAROS), Pedro Costa (CAVALO DINHEIRO) and Ramón Gieling (ERBARME DICH – MATTHÄUS PASSION STORIES) have submitted their musical choices. Ranging from Kate Bush to Chinese panpipe music, Richard Wagner to Miley Cyrus, Bowie to Beyoncé: over fourty unique and inspiring playlists are being made available through Spotify, ready to be discovered – and this number keeps growing. IFFR on the Spotify platform Especially designed for the festival, Spotify has created an IFFR account on their platform that will be available as of today: http://spoti.fi/IFFR. Via this service, Spotify users can discover IFFR and the filmmakers attached to the festival. Both the IFFR website and the organisations' social media will shine a light on the musical playlists. The playlists will also be on display during IFFR at De Doelen, the festival's epicentre. During several editions of this year's IFFR Late Night talkshow (Friday January 23 through Thursday January 29, at 10pm at De Doelen), filmmakers will discuss their musical choices with talkshow host Tom Barman. In addition, they will further explore their playlists with IFFR's resident DJ Okkie Vijfwinkel and host Dore van Duivenbode.
