The organisation announced this today in Rotterdam. The best film from the region will be presented with the Yellow Robin Award by an international jury of three experts. The second edition of Curaçao IFFR will take place from Thursday 4 to Sunday 7 April 2013. For the Yellow Robin Award, that aims to encourage up-and-coming film talent from the countries around the Caribbean Sea, Curacao IFFR will collaborate with festivals and film commissions in the region. Confirmed partners are the Instituto Cubano del Arte e Industria Cinematográficos, Trinidad &Tobago Film Festival and the Jamaica Promotions Corporation and talks with two other parties are currently still ongoing. The award comes with a USD 10,000 cash prize and travel to and accommodation in Rotterdam. The winning film will also screen at IFFR 2014 and the filmmaker will be given an opportunity to network with industry professionals present in Rotterdam. Alongside the Yellow Robin Award, the festival also has a competition for short films by young local makers aged between 14 and 21. The Yellow Robin Award 2013 jury is made up of Rutger Wolfson (Director of International Film Festival Rotterdam), David Pinedo (film critic and script advisor) and Bernadette Heiligers (text producer and public relations expert). Curaçao IFFR Following on from the festival’s successful first edition in 2012, in 2013 IFFR and the Fundashon Bon Intenshon will once again organise the four-day film festival Curaçao IFFR in Willemstad, Curaçao. The Fundashon Bon Intenshon, established in 1990, supports projects in the domains of education, culture, sports, poverty control, health care and tourism and also is one of IFFR’s main sponsors.
