42nd International Film Festival Rotterdam 23 January – 3 February 2013 PRESS RELEASE 15 January 2013 STOKER closes International Film Festival Rotterdam 2013 International Film Festival Rotterdam 2013 closes Saturday 2 February with the international premiere of STOKER, the much anticipated English debut of South-Korean film maker Park Chan-Wook (OLDBOY, THIRST, SYMPATHY FOR MR. VENGEANCE). The full festival program of IFFR 2013 will be available 17 January on www.filmfestivalrotterdam.com. STOKER is a psychological drama/thriller starring Mia Wasikowska (ALICE IN WONDERLAND; JANE EYRE), Matthew Goode (A SINGLE MAN, WATCHMEN) and Nicole Kidman (THE HOURS, THE OTHERS). STOKER is the script writing debut of actor Wentworth Miller (PRISON BREAK). Park Chan-Wook (1963, South Korea) is a film director, producer and script writer. His many awards include the Alfred Bauer Award of the Berlin film festival (for I’M A CYBORG) and the jury prize of the Cannes film festival (for OLDBOY and THIRST). Synopsis After India's (Wasikowska's) father dies in an auto accident, her Uncle Charlie (Goode), who she never knew existed, comes to live with her and her emotionally unstable mother Evelyn (Kidman). Soon after his arrival, she comes to suspect this mysterious, charming man has ulterior motives, but instead of feeling outrage or horror, this friendless girl becomes increasingly infatuated with him. IFFR’s Closing Night screening of STOKER takes place in the Grand Auditorium (‘Grote Zaal’) of festival venue De Doelen, starting 9 pm, and will be preceded by the announcement of the UPC Audience Award for best festival film and the Dioraphte Award for best Hubert Bals Fund-supported film. Tickets for the Closing Night Film (also in combination with the Closing Night Party) are available through www.filmfestivalrotterdam.com. STOKER will be released in The Netherlands on 11 April 2013 by Warner Bros. Pictures International Holland (Distributor Twentieth Century Fox).
