42nd International Film Festival Rotterdam 23 January – 3 February 2013 PRESS RELEASE 6 January 2013 Renowned filmmakers present new works in IFFR’s Spectrum In its main section Spectrum, the International Film Festival Rotterdam screens films by experienced directors and maestros of artistic and experimental cinema. In total, Spectrum is made up of seventy-seven features and documentaries from thirty countries, among which seven films supported by IFFR’s Hubert Bals Fund (see premieres list below) The full program can be found on www.filmfestivalrotterdam.com from Thursday January 17. IFFR 2013 opens Wednesday 23 January with the world premiere of Guido van Driel’s THE RESURRECTION OF A BASTARD (Netherlands) Spectrum 2013 is brought together by the IFFR programmers, with each of them selecting the best and most meaningful recent works from their respective research territories. Together, Spectrum offers a unique mix of premieres and recent works by directors, who IFFR has followed through the years or now introduces to its audiences or who have been supported by the festival’s Hubert Bals Fund. Spectrum 2013 includes seventeen world premieres, seven international premieres and thirteen European premieres (see full premiere list below).
