Samenvatting
PRESS RELEASE February 1, 2007 Rotterdam young people’s jury awards REPRISE by Joachim Trier Norwegian filmmaker Joachim Trier was honoured with the MovieSquad Award for his film REPRISE on February 1, 2007 by the young people’s jury of the International Film Festival Rotterdam. The five jury members, aged 17 or 18 years, voted REPRISE as best film out of the twenty-two they considered for the prize. Dutch youngsters Vincent van den Broek (17), Philip Corsius (18), Djie Tjwan Thung (18), Daphne Le Roux (17) and Tessa Verrijp (17) judged twenty-two films in official Rotterdam Film Festival selection. The MovieSquad Award comprises Dutch distribution within the ‘MovieZone’ educational film programme for young people and 2,000 Euro to be spend on the winner’s promotion among young people in The Netherlands. The jury statement on REPRISE: “This Norwegian film about friendship and creativity successfully balances between comedy and drama. The apparently easygoing lives of the main characters are interrupted by the mental illness of one of them. In the film, the jury was surprised by the many original moments creating their own specific atmosphere and by its interesting look at the process of artistic creativity. There is a constant tension between the two main characters who are friends, but also rivals. The fast-paced, sparkling editing and characters you can relate to draw you into the story.” MovieSquad is an initiative of the Nederlands Instituut voor Filmeducatie (Dutch Institute for Film Education) in close collaboration with the International Film Festival Rotterdam.
