International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) is deeply saddened to hear of the passing of the 32-year-old man from Rotterdam named Jip Jurg, who was found dead in his home on Sunday 28 January. The festival shares its sincerest condolences with his family and close ones.
The police are currently investigating the death of Jip Jurg. According to the police press release, Jurg attended an IFFR event in Theater Rotterdam Schouwburg during the night of Friday 26 to Saturday 27 January and was involved in an altercation outside of the venue. The police are calling on festival goers and other bystanders for more information regarding the incident.
Managing director Janneke Staarink says: “Our thoughts are with Jip Jurg’s family in these difficult moments. IFFR is assisting the Rotterdam police however possible and stays in close contact with their spokesperson.”
